Choose the format for the destination
JPG is a common choice for photos, but it cannot keep transparency; this converter fills transparent areas with white when exporting JPG. PNG keeps sharp pixels and transparency, often at a larger file size. WebP can be compact and supports transparency when your destination accepts it.
Changing the file extension alone does not change its format. This tool decodes the image and re-encodes it in the format you choose. Compare the preview, dimensions, and output size before downloading.
Quality and compatibility
The quality setting affects JPG and WebP output, not PNG in the same way. Converting an already compressed JPG to PNG cannot restore detail lost in the original.
Encoding support depends on the browser. If a format fails, choose another output or update the browser. The image is processed locally and is not uploaded by this tool.
